27/09/2013 / INTERVIEW - NAFTEMPORIKI
The composer George P. Lemos talks about the concert of the Foundation B & M Theocharakis and his 40-year journey with notes.

Floating between two loves which were able to hug and to flourish, sea and music, the musician-composer George P.Lemos talks about his anniversary concert.

“40 years in the waves of music" celebrates this year George P. Lemos, with a unique concert at the B & M Foundation Theocharakis, Thursday October 3rd , at 8:30 pm, the proceeds of which will be allocated for the purposes of the Development Centre Oinouses Aegean. Immersing us in the music of the ocean, the "Seafarer artist" invites us to this evening and shares with us his feelings and thoughts.

Can you guide us in your musical landscape of this festive evening?

Feelings and life experiences, covered by music and painted with touches of notes, written not with ink, but with suffer of soul and tears, but also with smile and joy. After all, that’s always the ingredients all our journeys in life. What people will listen is a romantic reflection, always with an optimistic conclusion. All films are mounted with an "end" that each listener will identify.

Who will travel along with you on stage?

First of all, my friend and arranger of my music, Zacharias Tsichlas. You know that every musical idea, if it’s not properly orchestrated, looks like a poem, which remains shut in a drawer and no one knows about it. It is important for a composer to find his music soul, which will give shape and life to his inspiration. This person to me is Zacharias, an excellent musician and pianist, my teacher and most of all, my friend. Then, all these excellent musicians, selected by the “who is who” of the Greek music scene, also two excellent singers, Marianna Gerasimidou and George Karadimos.

Thinking of all these 40 years, which moment do you consider crucial to your musical path?

Those moments when many rejected my songs because these moments made me more persistent to continue what I truly loved.

Is music a deep inner monologue, which is notified by seeking "partners"?

It is an internal dialogue, which I would say is notified not only to find chatters but also fellow travelers.

What emotion is your most inexhaustible source of inspiration?

Sadness, loneliness and pain. Every human Calvary that brings Resurrection.

Proven in practice once again that art is - or should be - interwoven with giving. What is the vision of the Development Centre Oinouses Aegean, created from Leon and Aspasia Lemos Foundation?

AKOA 's vision is to offer financial support and logistical infrastructure, aimed at improving the quality of life of the people of my island, of Oinouses, but generally of other regions of Greece. "Do the right and never disclose it" as wisely people say. On his website, you'll see how many projects have been funded, how many grants have been given all from the vision of my memorable parents.

In addition to the notes of the pentagram, what sounds like music to your heart?

The splash of the wave, the singing of birds and the whistle of a merchant ship in the fog.
A thought about your relationship with music and another for the sea.
From the sea I was born and with music I have been reborn.
